The School of Humanities and Social Science, UNSW Canberra, seeks a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Security Studies for an ongoing position. The successful candidate will demonstrate research depth, and educational breadth to cover both conventional and non-traditional security issues. The ideal candidate would also display a scholarly engagement in the disruptive effects of technological change, wider issues in International Relations, and an interest in Australian foreign/defence policy.
Who You Are (skills and experience)
- A PhD in Security Studies or a closely related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining currency in disciplinary knowledge, scholarship, and professional practice.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering high-quality teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, including curriculum development across a range of contexts.
- Experience in the effective use of educational technologies and innovative approaches to online and blended learning delivery.
- Demonstrated capacity to contribute to inclusive teaching practices and support equity, diversity, and student success initiatives.
- Strong research track record with evidence of high-quality outputs, impact, and ongoing contribution to research excellence, with emerging or established research leadership.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines, build professional relationships, and engage with industry or external stakeholders.
