The Georgia Prevention Institute (GPI) of the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) invites applications for a full-time faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, dependent on qualifications. The successful candidate must conduct human subjects research and will be expected to establish and develop an innovative and independent research program that will attract and maintain extramural funding from government agencies (e.g. the National Institute of Health), private foundations, and industry. The ideal candidates research program will build upon or complement the expertise of the current GPI faculty and research initiatives across the university including disciplines related aging, immunology, nutrition, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. This position is considered to be tenure track.
Responsibilities
- Establish an independent, nationally recognized research program based on impactful publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals
- Pursue external funding from federal agencies, foundations, or other relevant sources to support a sustained research program
- Provide service activities that benefit the MCG/GPI, the University, the profession, and the public at large
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biomedical related field from an accredited college or university
- Demonstrated human subjects research experience
- Evidence of strong potential to secure external funding
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Either postdoctoral research or academic faculty experience
- History of obtaining funding and current extramural funding to support research
