Registered Behavior Technician
POSITION: REGISTERED BEHAVIOR TECHNICIAN
SALARY: $63,833.23-$101,853.04
LOCATION: A. HARRY MOORE
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the A. Harry Moore administration, provide Behavior Therapy services to students with multiple disabilities ages 3-21 including:
- Evaluation of developmental and functional abilities
- Design and implementation of interventions to enhance educational performance and to facilitate independence.
- Participation on a transdisciplinary team to plan and implement Individual Educational Programs.
- Participation in faculty and professional meetings, committees, educational conferences.
- Serve as a resource and/or mentor to other professionals, college students and parents.
- Adhere to the policy and procedures of A. Harry Moore School and the NJ Department of Education.

Core Responsibilities
- Implement Treatment Plans: Directly provide one-on-one therapy, following detailed plans written by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), using methods like Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Natural Environment Teaching (NET), and Positive Reinforcement.
- Data Collection & Monitoring: Accurately track client progress and behavior data to assess treatment effectiveness.
- Skill Building: Teach new skills (communication, social, adaptive) and fade prompts as clients gain independence.
- Behavior Reduction: Implement strategies to decrease challenging behaviors by teaching safe replacement behaviors.
- Collaboration: Work with the treatment team, parents, and supervisors, providing updates and training to caregivers.
- Maintain Environment: Ensure a positive, safe, and fun learning environment for the client.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Certifications: Must be at least 18, have a high school diploma, complete 40 hours of RBT training, pass a competency assessment, and pass the RBT exam.
- Supervision: Receive ongoing supervision (at least 5% of hours) from a BCBA.
- Ethical Conduct: Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and high ethical standards.
- Interpersonal Skills: Patience, self-control, fairness, and effective communication.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to sit, stand, walk, and sometimes lift/carry.
Evaluation: The performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Principal in accordance with New Jersey State Law and the provisions of the policy on the evaluation of certified staff.
