About the position
As part of the National Autism Strategy, the Australian Government committed to establishing the Australian Autism Knowledge Hub (the Hub) as a trusted national resource to strengthen the translation of autism research into practice, policy, and community impact. The Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre (OTARC), Australia’s largest autism research centre, has been commissioned to lead this initiative, creating a unique opportunity to shape accessible, evidence-informed outcomes at a national scale. Embedded within OTARC, the Hub brings together research, community knowledge and priorities, and practice expertise to support sustainable and independent knowledge sharing aligned with the National Autism Strategy.
The Research Fellow will be involved in activities across the full research lifecycle, from co-design and ethics through to analysis, knowledge translation, and the development of practical tools, resources, and training that improve understanding and practice in autism.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have:
- Completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline and relevant experience within the discipline or professional area.
- High-level knowledge of autism and neurodiversity-affirming approaches to research.
- Lived experience of neurodivergence or disability, including personal, family, caring, or community experience, will be highly regarded
- Evidence of experience in participatory, co-produced, or lived experience–informed research approaches in applied research and evaluation.
- A record of contribution to publications, conference papers, reports, or professional/technical outputs demonstrating research potential.
- A record of research translation activities, including the ability to produce outputs for non-academic audiences in accessible, meaningful, and usable formats.
