Shape the future of Medical Education in Western Australia
Curtin University is seeking an experienced medical practitioner and educator to join Curtin Medical School as a Senior Lecturer. This is a unique opportunity to play a role in shaping the penultimate year of Western Australia’s only undergraduate-entry medical degree.
This part-time position is ideally suited to a clinician-educator looking to combine academic leadership with ongoing clinical or professional practice.
Your new role
As a Senior Lecturer, you will support the coordination, delivery and continuous development of the Year 4 curriculum, working collaboratively with clinical and academic colleagues across Curtin Medical School. You will play an important role in preparing students for the transition from medical school to clinical practice.
In this role, you will:
- Work collaboratively with the Year 4 team, Clinical Deans, hospital placement teams, and domain and specialty leads.
- Contribute to the design, delivery, and refinement of teaching activities providing learning experiences that are contemporary, inclusive, and responsive to student needs.
- Collaborate on the development, review, and continuous improvement of the curriculum.
- Contribute to the design and development of high-quality formative and summative assessments.
- Support teaching and assessment across other year levels, especially Year 5, as required.
- Contribute to responsive, high-quality student support, including preparation programs for written and OSCE examinations.
About you
You are a respected medical practitioner and clinician-educator who is passionate about developing the next generation of doctors. You bring strong leadership capability, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and community-focused healthcare.
Essential criteria:
- Medical degree with current unrestricted AHPRA registration
- Clinical Fellowship or PhD qualifications are highly desirable.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, with a reflective and innovative approach.
- Demonstrated curriculum co-ordination experience.
- Knowledge of pedagogical theories and contemporary educational practices with exposure to curriculum development or educational initiatives.
- Demonstrated commitment to pastoral care of students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on cross-cultural interactions.
Role Requirements
As this is a continuing contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role. Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction.
