Social Media Specialist
Job Description
Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Social Media Specialist. The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for managing, producing, and publishing content across the institution's official social media platforms to support brand awareness, engagement, recruitment, and institutional reputation. This position develops platform-appropriate multimedia content - particularly short-form video - coordinates publishing and analytics workflows and provides governance and guidance for department-level social media channels to ensure alignment with institutional standards, accessibility requirements, and communication goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Produce, edit, and publish multimedia content including short-form video, photography, graphics, and written copy for the institution's official social media channels.
- Manage day-to-day operations of institutional social media accounts, including monitoring comments and messages, responding appropriately, and escalating sensitive or high-risk issues as needed.
- Meet with internal and external community members to gather content, fulfill project requests, attend events for content capture, and support cross-departmental initiatives.
- Collaborate with Marketing & Events, Development & Alumni, Admissions & Recruitment, and other campus stakeholders to support campaigns, initiatives, and annual communication cycles.
