TTU K-12 Teacher - Instructional Support Specialist
Position Description
Contributes to the University's and TTUISD's mission through teaching and service. Provides instruction, appropriate assistance, information and tutoring. Performs instructional and educational work while serving as an online teacher. Provides feedback and grades for lessons, exams and final course grades. Organizes and develops course work, coordinates classes for students, observes and assesses the needs of the students. Maintains communication both formally and informally with students and other educators.
Major/Essential Functions
- Provide instructional support and course coverage for teachers during absences, periods of leave, or vacancies to ensure continuity of instruction and student support. Assist with grading, assignment feedback, and student communication during high-volume periods to ensure adherence to timelines and quality feedback standards, and conduct 1:1 discussion-based assessments as needed during peak seasons.
- Provide individualized and small-group tutoring, intervention, and academic support to students based on teacher, counselor, or administrator referral; and maintain accurate records of student interventions, communication attempts, tutoring sessions, and other supports.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to identify and implement appropriate student support strategies.
- Monitor student engagement, attendance, pacing, and course activity to identify students at risk of truancy, withdrawal, or academic failure. Conduct outreach and follow-up communication with students and families regarding inactivity, attendance concerns, and academic progress, and develop back on track plans to support student success.
- Provide regular attendance and progress monitoring in support of school district partnerships and coordinate with partners to support student success as needed.
- Participate in the academic integrity committee to review referred assignments and assessments in alignment with the schools standards for authentic student work.
- Assist with student assessment including working testing sites during state assessment windows (STAAR, TELPAS), SAT, ACT, or other testing instruments utilized by Texas Tech K-12.
- Adhere to Texas Tech University, Texas Tech Online, and Texas Tech K-12 policy for remote work employees.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records, communication, and sensitive information in accordance with applicable laws and district policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
