Budget Analyst
Position Summary
Supports the Budget Director in the preparation of the annual budget. Assists in the development of training for budget managers. Monitors budgets with regards to sufficient funds. Oversee all student and club budgets, aiding and training as needed. Assist the Budget Director with maintaining institution's budget in Workday system. Oversee adjunct budgets and contracts, and coordinate summer adjunct contract preparation. Prepares various required reports.
Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities)
Budget Formulation & Reporting
- Assist with the development of the annual budget.
- Complete the Budget Data Book and distribute to required entities
- Prepare Annual CHHE Tuition and Fee Survey, Administrative Salary Survey, and other State Reports as needed
- Compile, review, and report Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Financial Survey
- Maintain the budget request submission process, formatting and disbursing to E-team
Daily Budget Monitoring & Operations
- Monitor all insufficient fund notifications and follow up with appropriate department
- Oversee all club and trust and agency accounts, and assist them with monitoring their budgets
- Responsible for various expense tracking and allocation such as adjunct tracking, summer instruction, and others as needed
- Approve part-time/temporary staffing as part of budget management
- Input budget transfers
Department Support & Collaboration
- Primary contact for budget office, assisting departments with guidance as to their budgets, Workday, and related issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
Systems, Payroll & Miscellaneous
- Analyze all software system upgrades and test accordingly
- Review payroll transactions and reports, ensuring proper payment and accounting of salary and benefits
- Maintain Budget Office website
- Other duties as assigned to support the needs of the department
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- 4 years of demonstrated experience in budgeting and forecasting, preferably within a higher education
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have the ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegiality with employees, students, and the community.
