JOB PURPOSE:

Operate heavy power construction equipment required to maintain, repair, excavate, or erect the University's grounds, buildings, and structures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Remove ice and snow from University parking lots, streets and sidewalks.
• Level and contour dirt roads on campus and outlying farms using motor grader.
• Mix, load, transport and deposit topsoil for use in campus landscaping.
• Load, transport, and deposit gravel or asphalt for street and road repairs.
• Operate backhoe and trenching machines to excavate ditches and trenches.
• Operate street sweeping machine to maintain a clean campus environment.
• Operate mobile overhead cranes with the assistance of radio or hand signals.
• Perform manual labor such as digging, shoveling concrete or asphalt.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED, plus completion of related technical or vocational education/training. 2 years work-related experience. Valid Class A commercial driver's license with airbrake designation (or the ability to obtain within six months of hire).
