JOB PURPOSE:
Operate heavy power construction equipment required to maintain, repair, excavate, or erect the University's grounds, buildings, and structures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Remove ice and snow from University parking lots, streets and sidewalks.
- Level and contour dirt roads on campus and outlying farms using motor grader.
- Mix, load, transport and deposit topsoil for use in campus landscaping.
- Load, transport, and deposit gravel or asphalt for street and road repairs.
- Operate backhoe and trenching machines to excavate ditches and trenches.
- Operate street sweeping machine to maintain a clean campus environment.
- Operate mobile overhead cranes with the assistance of radio or hand signals.
- Perform manual labor such as digging, shoveling concrete or asphalt.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED, plus completion of related technical or vocational education/training. 2 years work-related experience. Valid Class A commercial driver's license with airbrake designation (or the ability to obtain within six months of hire).
